I had to do it and I got one of the best deliveries today

After the harassment I got in the gym last night for thinking I was gonna run 6 miles the day after a strength class, I knew that no matter what, I had to run that 6 freakin’ miles today! That is why it is SO important to have an accountability partner – because if it wasn’t for the “trash talk” at the gym last night, I probably would have either A. skipped that run today because my legs are SUPER sore, or B. tried to run the 6 miles, but at mile 1 I would have decided to just do 2 or 3 miles….But I kept hearing Alexander say, “6 miles right?”, and so I knew I had to finish all. SIX. MILES. And by God I did.

And it really was GREAT weather for it! Despite all the snow we got last night because it was melted off the path today.

I felt OK during this run. Not great from being sore from Thursday and still getting my lungs back to normal after being sick, but I felt strong for the most part…When I turned around and passed my mom, she caught me walking up a hill…but we both had a moment of complaining about our sore inner thighs.

So. I made the leap of faith. As of this morning, the weather this Sunday is supposed to be in the 40’s and cloudy/sunny. Which meant I was going to sign up for the Rocks and Roots 20k trail run. And I did. Yuppers. I am signed up for a 12 mile trail race on Sunday and I have never run on trails like this. Rocks. Roots. Creeks. Snow. Mud. Yes. This is going to be FUN!

On to one of the best deliveries I have ever received! I had contacted Clif bars about products and reviews and they immediately got back to me and said they would send me some of their bars. I eat them daily, so 1 free one is fab in my book. When I opened the box today, this is what I found:

Pretty much 1 of every bar and blok they sell. I’ve never tried their blocks or the protein builders, so I’m super excited to try them! I just need to hide them from Phillipi…

And last but not least, it was try-a-new-pizza-place-night! WOOO HOOOO! Off my list of 100 places, I chose a place called Rotelli. The Hus, my mom, and I decided that we are going to rate every place we try for you all. It’s going to be a 5 “pizza” system instead of the 5 stars….Philco’s idea. He’s a creative one that boy.

Since on Fridays, their appetizers are $2 off, I took one for the team and ordered a combo plate that had wings, chicken fingers, and mozzarella sticks.

We ordered a spicy Sicilian pizza – pepperoni, sausage, banana peppers, crushed red peppers, and Romano and mozzarella cheeses.

And of course we had to try their Stromboli. It came with pepperoni, ham, and salami.

Oh! I almost forgot! At the very beginning, with our drinks, they brought rolls. Now, at first, I was kinda like, why do we need rolls when we have pizza and Stromboli coming?! But ohmygosh! They were like garlic bread rolls! SOOOO GOOD!!!! And yes, we have lots of leftovers for lunch tomorrow and carb loading before my race…

So, here is what we all rated this pizza joint.

Our verdict: we would go there again, but we would try a different pizza and would not get the Stromboli again. We aren’t fans of ham and salami, so would have preferred just pepperoni and cheese in the Stromboli. As far as the pizza, the sausage was just one long strip, so you didn’t get sausage in every bite! 😦 And also, it was a thin crust – which we like! – but very flimsy because it was kinda greasy. But the sauce and cheese and taste of the pepperoni and sausage was YUM!

Next time, hopefully we plan our “night out” better and our friends, The Judes, can join us. We were so last minute and spontaneous tonight it wasn’t even funny…

The end.

Today I’m thankful for:

~Catwoman comics that inspire Alexander to make our workouts so hard that we can’t walk or lift cotton balls for a week

  1. Oh man, I’m so jealous about all the free stuff u got from Cliff! I am looking for some new fuel to use while running, myself, so I can’t wait to read a review on these.
I totally love how ur rating the pizza with a “pizza system!” I didn’t end up having pizza myself tonight like I said, I got lazy (didn’t eat until 9:00 by the time I finished my run and stretched and everything) and just had some shrimp instead…
